14th Century Kusnacht Brigandine

This beautiful 14th-century brigandine is directly inspired by the famous Kusnacht Brigandine found in a Switzerland Castle. It is one of the most well-known 14th-century Brigandines and also one of the most popular nowadays, both in medieval tournaments and battlefields but also in Behourd and jousting.

And there is little question why because the clever design of the original that we have been directly emulating offers an extremely high level of protection and utmost mobility. All the plates overlap each other allowing the brigandine to diffuse any impact on the torso of the fighter in an efficient way because every single plate that is struck by an impact actually overlaps on other plates which really allows the diffusion of any blow, and allows incredible mobility at the same time; even doing a high kick in that kind of brigandine is totally possible! You would really appreciate the great range of motion that the overlapping chest plates allow you to do. Even using a longsword or a polearm will really be a pleasure in that kind of equipment.

Our protection is made of 20-gauge STEEL plates, carefully riveted on the inner surface of ROBUST GENUINE SUEDE LEATHER, the shape of which is directly inspired by original representation from 14th century, Bavaria. It is easily adjustable for your body shape, thanks to its different sizes AVAILABLE and the carefully placed leather straps on the sides that allow you to adjust it, depending on the type of gambeson you are using. You will appreciate the sturdy leather at the shoulder that allows you to directly lace your pauldrons to your brigandine in the most efficient way.
