The kettle hat, also called “Chapel de Fer” in French, is the ideal helmet for footmen, crossbowmen, spearmen billmen and vougiers. It was hugely popular among medieval armies because of its versatility and good balance between protection and mobility. This historic reproduction is HANDMADE from 18-gauge mild steel, lined with a comfortable and secure leather liner. A circumference of approximately 68 cm makes it ideal for all head sizes. A sturdy chin strap with a lovely buckle ensures your helmet stays in place during battles. Note: This product is carefully coated with a layer of oil when packaged that acts as a temporary (protective) layer against corrosion (rust), which can easily be wiped off using any oil remover or even a dry cloth.
